You'd stay alive but not happy at 20*

I took this out on a night that dropped into the mid 40s, so I thought it would be no problem, but I had to bundle up quite a bit to stay warm. I had a thermal shirt, hoodie, sweats and ski socks on and yet my feet and thighs were still chilly (the only areas without 2 layers of clothing). My fool husband wore boxers and a tee shirt and turned into a husband-sickle. As my headline says, I do think you'd stay alive at 20 degrees, but you would be very cold and unhappy. Take the rating with a grain of salt and buy a thermal mat (which we did not have)and bundle up more than you would expect to and you'll be fine. Other than that, it's a nice quality bag, the zippers seem sturdy and the padding is enough that a mat isn't necessary (though I would recommend one for warmth reasons...).
