I have the large Alps cots that I use with a 4 season 6 man Eureka tent on long distance canoe camping trips in weather that can be quite nasty and cold. I have a 20 foot canoe and gear size and wieght is usually not an issue up to a point. It does effect the canoe performance in class 3 rapids so I utilize a cover on my canoe. I have recently been paddling more solo trips and was looking for the comfort of the Alps cot with a little less wieght. I was concerned about the difficulties people had said about setting up the cot. I can tell you for an average ADULT person, set up time is about 4 minutes and it was not that difficult for me. The compact design compared to the Alps will definately allow it to fill a nitch in my camping gear. I tried it out in my house and the comfort was acceptable and size adequate for my 6 foot 1 inch 186 lb body. It is low to the ground so not as nice to get dressed on as the bigger Alps large cot. It also is almost half the weight and at least half the size. I would reccommend this product.
