I purchased two of these chairs when I first saw them on STP and planned to use them on our deck at our mountian cabin. When the chairs arrived they were huge and they are of a very large size. The first chair we opened looked great however I was not happy with the plastic connections but thought that Alps must have felt they would work fine. The chair does rock to the rear however forward it stops at 90 degrees. Our problem came when we opened the second chair it was a rusty mess, the plastic connector on the rock arms was broke and the fabric was stained with rust. It was a certain that it was packed this way [*] with no care for the customer. The chiar was sealed in plastic so I am sure this was the case. The coating on the chair rubs off fairly soon and you find it is constructed of untreated black tubing that will rust with dew when the coating wears off. If you plan to use them on a nice surface you will have rust marks. I do not feel that anything but a solid surface the chair would be of use. I contacted STP and they sent a replacement and had no knowlage of the problem since the item is prepackaged [*]. STP assured me that they will check the other chairs for rust and damage before they ship and were very helpful with the issue. We kept the chairs but will be careful about use because of the mentioned issues. This would be a great item if it was constructed of a coated tubing at least Galv.
