I have spent hundreds of nights camping, in various conditions, climates and purposes. I am familiar with tents and outdoor equipment so feel reasonably qualified in my assessment. First, this is not mountaineering quality stuff- nor would anyone doing that activity want this sort of tool. But, for recreational outdoors activities, this is a great shelter. setup is awkward, but with any tent, gets easier with time. the end-pockets that seat the poles could be tougher, and will probably modify with additional cordura. poles are not very strong, but then again this product is not going to see any rough and tumble exposure- set it up and leave it alone. its very versatile, and provides excellent protection from the sun at the beach. bring longer stakes, as everyone else says. i like it. it works. and the value provided at Sierra make it almost a no-brainer. Car camping is another great use, tho I have not used it for that, yet. would be terrific to set this up over the picnic table or eating area. its free standing and sturdy. recommend sealing all the seams, as one should do with any tent to protect against leaks.the shock corded fiberglass poles are probably the weakest point of the structure, but should hold up just fine so long as you treat them with respect and dont try to cowboy this together during setup. but once its up, its sturdy, reliable, odd-looking and very fit for purpose.
