Great Tent/Great Price

First thing to know for anyone interested in purchasing this tent: the directions are inside of the stuff bag it came with. That's useful because the small bar not holding the tent up doesn't have an obvious place! I could roughly tell by the poll size where it went, but had to really look to figure out the spot (it's under the fly at the back top of the tent!). Construction seems good and the ventilation system works wonders in warm weather.

I recently took this on a 3 day adventure through the Smokey Mountains and while it's not a backpacking tent, per se, it gets the job done. At less than 6 lbs it can easily be carried by one person, but I recommend splitting the duties with whomever you intend to share it with. That helps lessen the load.

This tent pops up easy (try it at home first, though) and is sturdy even in high winds. The polls are light and solid quality. It also stuffs into the supplied sack easier than my Mountain Hardware backpacking tent and is about the same size/weight for 1/3 the price. The bonus being that it's not a nightmare to pack up when you're trying to get moving in the morning. It's also quite spacious and offers great views w/o the fly as it is almost entirely mesh.

Is this ideal for a minimalist and/or a long trip? That depends on what you bring and what you can handle. The fact remains: at this price you won't find much that will beat it. I really appreciate a small company making a solid product and a very reasonable price. ALPS Mountaineering has done it and I plan on supporting them in the future!
