3 = 2 person

I bought this solely as a lightweight dez tent. The carniverorous gnats can be terrible at times, and other things that slither and scurry in the night. I would take a different tent for higher mountain trips, unless mild weather was forcast. It's not like it won't withstand severe weather, there are just better tents for this purpose. As others have noted, it's NOT a 3 person tent. The 54" wide foot won't fit 3 narrow width pads without stacking. It's wide enough at the head for 3. I consider it a roomy 2-person tent and was glad other reviews contained warnings. That said, it could do 3 in a pinch (preferably not 3 full size adults). The strong anodized poles are sweet (no more gray hands to contend with from aluminum pole smut). The tiny gear loft (included) is the silliest thing on this tent, reminiscent of a small brassiere. The tent body could use a stakedown along each long side where there are none (except on the fly). It doesn't come with a footprint to protect its lightweight floor, and Sierra doesn't carry them - had to go to a competitor. Even with the foorprint, the tent is under 5.5 lbs. The sewing is pretty good, but not in the same league with companies like SD and NF. To Alps credit, this tent is light and comes with all the stakes and things that other manufactueres leave out of the actual weight, or don't include. The fly has lots of guyouts and clever features. It is a pleasing unobtrusive green for those that don't wish to announce their presence for all to see.
