Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Verified Buyer Reviewed by JCskier from NH on Saturday, August 8, 2015I have several arcteryx products and all seem to be better quality than other brands I have. The tempest jacket I bought is a medium. Fits me perfectly with the extra room Needed for layering. I mainly use it for skiing. I'm 5'4" 130lbs.
Reviewed by nottabunny from New York on Wednesday, February 5, 2014I'm tall and skinny, with ridiculously long arms - I usually end up getting men's jackets because of it. This jacket is perfection! Long enough in the back to keep snow out, very adjustable powder skirt, hood fits over my helmet, fantastically waterproof and windproof. I got a medium so that I could layer some down underneath, and was so warm yesterday I had to layer off. Arcteryx does not disappoint!
Reviewed by Jenn from Quebec on Saturday, January 18, 2014Great jacket with a little interior liner inside jacket. Great use of pockets. Love it as it also fits on top of ski helmet.
Reviewed by Gadget Girl from Bozeman, MT on Thursday, January 2, 2014I finally got a chance to wear this coat skiing. It was a fairly warm windy day (low 30's) with wet snow. The coat kept me very dry and the hood fit completely over my helmet keeping my neck dry and head warm, as well as providing some protection for my face. I did learn that you have to unzip the collar some in order to open the hood wide enough to slide it over the helmet. The jacket also worked well with my Dakine pack and I was able to access the outside jacket pockets without removing the pack. One of the main reasons I purchased the Tempest jacket was that it was one of the few that featured an interior stash pocket. This is critical to me, since I need it to stash my hat & gloves when I get hot snowshoeing. It’s also my favorite place to stash some snacks. The coat fit well overall with plenty of room to accommodate a transceiver, a long length to keep you dry and has longer than normal sleeves that fit well over or under bulky gloves. The powder skirt is a bit snug, but did the job of keeping the snow out when I had a deep fall. I would definitely recommend this jacket for skiing and snowshoeing. The trick will be finding the appropriate mid-layer for differing levels of effort.
Reviewed by Asics Lover from Chicago on Sunday, December 15, 2013This jacket is not insulated, it is not warm but it is wind proof. You must layer for warmth. As long as that is what you are looking for, this jacket is great. Great fabric, great pockets - I especially love the wrist pocket and the pit zips. I love that it is machine washable and Arcteryx recommends washing. Yes, you may have to retreat for waterproofing - but you can throw is the washer and dryer. Big plus! I would give 5 stars if it was insulated.
