Awesome all around boot.

I own a pair of Asolo Newton's and they are great boots. I saw these online for an AMAZING deal and had to pick up a pair (I got these babies for $105!!!). These are a step up from the Newtons and can be used for a variety of uses. Right out of the box they are awesome as far as comfort with no break in needed. The sole is just the right amount of stiffness. Stiff enough for kicking steps on steep slopes in dirt or snow (or doing a few rock climbing moves if needed), but soft enough that you don't jack your knees walking off a mountain as say a true mountaineering boot (those SUCK downhill). These would also make great hunting boots in both fall and winter. They are a tad wider inside than the Newtons so you could easily wear a thick wool mountaineering sock yet they're fine with a normal hiking sock. They aren't auto/semi auto crampon compatible but I didn't really get these for mountaineering. However, they would be more than capable of going up ShastaRainier with a strap on crampon and some gaiters.
