A better choice for my kind of travel.

My last pair of Asolo hiking boots lasted almost ten years before I finally wore the soles out. I may resole them because the uppers are still bullet proof. The toe cap is a little tight in my old boots so I purchased this pair based on promotional price, weight, and living in southern California as opposed to Minnesota. These boots are called Cactus for a reason, they don't look like they would like snow.

The Cactus are unmistaken modeled after rock climbing or bouldering shoes with a rockered sole, close lace up pattern and achilles cut out in the upper.

I have know doubt they will be better suited to the arid chaparral of SoCal as opposed to the packing around in the mountains or woodland regions farther north.

I wear a 9.5 US and I bought a 9.5 US. The toe cup is not small in these boots. I loaded a more substantial thicker insole and have no issues with sizing. My foot likes the feel of these boots better than my more traditional backpacker Asolo boot.

This "boot" is more of a beefed up shoe than a "boot". I can easily adjust the lacing to fit the needs of the day. I think they will not be as hot as my older boots because there is substantially less material in the uppers.

This boot is much better suited than a more substantial backpacker hiking boot if you mostly travel the international city route via airplane where packing space and weight are a primary concern.

I would not hesitate to take these into the back country fully loaded in three seasons as well because I know Asolo make a consistently reputable product.
