Great shoe style; replace the insoles!

I have been living in a pair of Merrell barefoot shoes for 2 years, but the sole is all but gone (sniff).
I wanted something with a low drop and a wide toe that was also waterproof, and a little warmer for winter.

I usually wear men's 7.5 (EU39 or EU40), but the smallest available in the colour I wanted was 8. This is equivalent to EU41-1/3, which will be fine, as they will accommodate thick socks on cold days.

These are not zero-drop shoes, and the heel height vs. toe height is noticeable, but they also do not feel like high-heels, as so many hiking shoes seem to feel, these days.

These are fairly wide in the front of the shoe, which is nice is you are used to moving your toes easily.
The insole that comes with the boot is pathetic, and provides almost no support. I ordered some Merrell insoles ($10 from the Merrell website) and they transformed the boots into super-comfy.

I can't yet speak to the durability or the waterproof qualities.
