Order 1/2 size down

Like many Euro shoes, the conversion to US sizing isn't very accurate. On the label, these shoes say they are a US 11 but a EU 45 which isn't very accurate. My foot measures 11.125 inches which is a US 11.5 or EU 44.5. I ordered these in 11 and they are plenty big enough in length even with midweight wool socks.
Overall, these are much more of an approach shoe than a hiking boot. For the typical day hiker these will be just fine and they work great for approaches to places I rock climb as they stick well and have a narrow enough toe to get into cracks plus allow plenty of ankle movement when things get sketchy. They are light and yet offer some ankle bashing protection but no more support than a low top shoe as the back of the high top is cut very low for freedom of movement. The sole stiffness is closer to a trail running shoe than a hiking boot but would be plenty supportive enough for anything but heavily loaded backpacking in rocky terrain.
I should point out that while the Gore-tex is nice when it's raining and offers some breathability, I would not want to wear these on a longer hike on a hot day as Gore-tex is good but still a barrier to breathing so feet get pretty hot in them if it's anything close to warm out.
