Most Helpful 5-Star Review
not as wide as they appearVerified Buyer Reviewed by hm from sussex county,nj on Tuesday, February 10, 2015I wanted a pair of shoes just like these. I also happen to prefer Asolo over other brands so I figured I would take a chance. This is a newer style of Asolo and a previous pair of boots close to this style, Ellery, was too wide for my forefoot. But since these low shoes looked a little less wide I ordered them 1/2 size smaller(7.5) than my normal shoe size (8) because Asolo's tend to run long. The length was fine but they were too narrow and pinched my little toes. I have an average width foot. Had to send them back since they didn't stretch to fit my foot. Gave them 4 stars because they are narrow even though they don't look like it in the pictures. They are great low shoes that have a little thicker and stiffer sole than the Sunset, Ray and Shiver.
More Than a Lightweight Hiking/Walking ShoeVerified Buyer Reviewed by AnnRAn from Arizona/Pennsylvania on Monday, January 12, 2015First of all the fit is great and the shoe is supportive and comfortable with a great sole and tread design. I wanted them for backpacking but was put off at first by Asolo and Sierra's description of the shoe as a "summer hiking/walking shoe". since I don't like to hike in big boots I bought them and wore them this weekend to a rainy trip to Sycamore Canyon in AZ. I carried about a 28 pound pack, made numerous stream crossings over slippery rocks and hiked through sand, over rock ledges and on uneven terrain. the shoes were comfortable, supportive and great to backpack in...a lighter weight shoe that is so much more durable than a trail running shoe. I wore various thicknesses of wool socks and never had 1 hot spot or blister. I wore them hiking right out of the box with the same results. I usually take a size 9(occasionally an 8.5) and the shoe fits well with enough room in the toe for downhills. I previously owned a pair of Asolo approach shoes and backpacked in them but the sole is a bit too soft and is wearing down....the shoe is more supportive for backpacking. The sole is also sticky on rock which is good for hiking in AZ. The price was hard to beat on Sierra's site!
