Great light hiking/approach shoes

Reviewed by JohnS from Madison on Tuesday, October 4, 2016
Most of my hiking is done on-trail, but often on rocky surfaces. I love the grip of the sole--I can easily walk up or down large boulders or rock shelves at steep angles. The leather uppers are very durable, and the rubber toe caps have deflected and prevented potential damage to the shoe. I have hundreds, maybe a thousand or more, miles on my first pair, and I'm ready to get a second while they're still made. They're waterproof and breathable as advertised. I recently splashed into a stream deep enough to flood the insides, but I kept hiking, and they dried during the remainder of my (desert) hike. The long lace-able area makes for a firm, custom fit. I prefer a low cut for ankle flexibility and lighter weight, which these have. They accommodate my custom orthotics.

When you can get them on a monster deal through STP, what's not to like?
