“How do these compare to the Asolo Flame?”

Asked by pinewoodbill from colorado on 2/7/2016 12:38:02 PM
  • To me they are very similar boots . They both fit the same and feel the same. It's just the look. The flames were the first pair of asolo I owned. They were great!!! It's just the look you are looking for.

  • I haven't worn the flames but they are described as being somewhat heavier but with softer, dual-density soles. this is the one short-coming of the neutrons. I wear them every day, but I notice they are not as comfortable as the old fsn-95s due to the rigid vibram soles. wear cushy insoles and socks or go with the heavier boot and exchage them if needed.

p.s. I intend to order a pair of the flames to compare the fit.

  • First, I haven't worn the Flame yet, but specs are very similar. Both are waterproof, gore-tex, non-insulated, 6" tall and suede/synthetic construction. Differences are Flame weighs 3lb 2oz and the heel is 1.25" high, Neutron weighs 2lb 13oz and 1.5" heel height. Asolo makes geat shoes, hands down, aside from cost difference, both models are a solid choice for hiking! Hope this helps

  • Flame don't have Vibram sole. Flame have the titanium lace eyes all the way up. I would go with the Vibram sole, there is a reason they are used on so many different well known brands. My advice on either is to buy the wide, they run narrow as a standard.

  • The main difference is the Vibram outsole and the weight per pair.
