I had been searching for a pair of replacement hiking boots for sometime when I discovered the Neutrons. I already had a pair of GTX 530s that I use on extended backpacking trips, so I knew that if I ordered them I'd be getting a quality product. The Asolo boots are a great piece of equipment, but the price is normally pretty steep. I was happily surprised when I saw that STP was selling them at a price I could afford. . This being said, when I received the boots (red/gray), I was not surprised with the quality. I ordered the same size as I did with the 530s and the fit was exactly the same. I like to use a beefy insole and medium thick socks, so if you have meaty feet and prefer to use insoles as I do, you might want to order a wider size. For me the fit is perfect. I have hiked with the boots three times now and haven't had sore feet, blisters, or sore spots. There is little to no break in period, but this will vary from person to person. The soles have very good grip but are not so soft as to create premature wear. The structure of the boot is solid, but are noticeably not as stiff as my 530s. If you plan on carrying any significant kind of load, you might want to take a few training hikes with them and your load to confirm that the boots will suit your purpose. Overall, I think this is a great boot and easily lives up to the Asolo brand name.
