Well worth the investment!

My first hiking boots were mid-weight Vasque hikers (not sure of the model; split-grain, canvas with Gore-Tex). Their soles were much stiffer than any shoe that I had owned before, although I would wear through them in about a year. A few years ago, when I needed new boots, I bought a pair of Fugitive GTXs and thought that I had really hit the jackpot! I was initially skeptical that an Italian-designed boot would not accommodate my wide feet. Not only did the 14W fit with room for thick socks, but the extra-stiff soles outlasted the rest of the boot. I consistently walk at least 70 miles a week on my warehouse floor and the Asolo boots have held up very well. Weekend hikes on rocky, root-filled trails are a breeze on the feet, with little noticeable transfer through the soles. The Neutrons are holding up well after having them for two weeks. The lateral stiffness of the boots is also laudable. Be good to your feet and try a pair of Asolo boots.
