These are nice boots. I would recommend them for hiking and light mountaineering (like hiking Fourteeners). I recently spent two weeks in Austria and Italy with them and they performed great for the most part, which I will outline below. Very steep, rocky trail hiking: excellent; Scree running: excellent; Hiking through ankle deep puddles on steep slippery trails for multiple hours: excellent--my feet were totally dry, no hint of water; Via Ferrata involving several hours of class 4 climbing: not as good, I was wishing I had some narrower soled mountaineering boots and I felt like the traction was not what I wanted to be but they still worked just fine.

These are kind of "European department store" hiking boots not true technical boots (which they are not sold as). If you are hiking, backpacking, or similar, I think these are a great bet. They are stiff but super light and the extra height is quite nice. These will be my primary hiking boots until they die at which point I'll probably buy other Asolos. The quality is immediately apparent. If you want a more "technical" hiking boot, I think STP has other better options for similar or slightly higher cost.
