Great shoe as it is lightweight, comfortable and sturdy. Also, very well made. These shoes do run about one size large, however, I tried these on at the store and was told that for hiking, it is advised to buy one size larger than your normal size. This accommodates a thick sock and it prevents you... Read More

I usually wear a W's 8.5 or 9 US and a Euro size 39. I first tried the 8.5 in these and they were huge, exchanged for 8...still huge. The tag on the inside says US 8 and Euro 40 so I think the sizes are just wrong for US. I'm going to exchange for a 7.5 and see how that goes. The boots look great, very well made and i can tell they will be very comfortable...and of course the price is great but I recommend ordering a full size down.

Ok, I love the way they look and fit. Other reviewers said that they ran large, which is ok with me because I didn't want a lot of pressure on my feet. They are very stiff and I haven't gone hiking in them yet, just breaking them in. Stiff is good, serious traction. I think they'll be perfect!

My dog ate my 2012 Asolo hiking boots! These looked like a close replacement at a fraction of the cost. I'm glad I learned from my last pair of Asolos that the brand runs BIG! I typically wear a size 7.5 and I wear a 6.5 in Asolos. I would encourage buyers to purchase an entire size smaller than they typically wear. The toe box is very spacious. I have wide feet and the toe box is almost too wide for my feet. A nice thick pair of hiking socks seems to be the answer to filling up all of the space inside these boots. They are a tad stiffer than the boots I was replacing, making these boots a great selection for light backpacking.

I agree with order size smaller comments. I bought a pair for my daughter for Christmas and ended up exchanging a 9.5 down to a 9.0 to get them to fit her ok. Toe box did not seem large for us. We hike with both padded and silk liner socks.

I've gone through a number of boots over the years and these are my favorite so far. I taken them out on numerous long day hikes in sun, rain and snow and they've been great every time. There is ample room in the toe box and lace high. The traction doesn't do great under slick conditions but other than that, I love them.

  • “I just got these and the sides of the tongue are killing the front of my ankle. Is this something that normally breaks in ok? It has been forever since I've had to break in a new pair of boots and I have travel coming up in a couple of months and need comfortable feet!”

    • I checked through this product and the reviews and didn't find that this seems to be a common issue, so it may wear in fairly quickly, but I can't guarantee it. Our return and exchange policy can be viewed here:

  • “How much shipping fees I need to pay?
If I don't fit well, how do I return it?”
Asked by A solo metro in Gore-Tex from Toronto on 6/28/2016 7:08:10 AM
    • Depends on the deal code or ad "click-through" you use. Might be free, might be ~$1 (US), might normal shipping of around ~$13. As for a return, it's $5.95 (US) to return for a refund, or $2.95 for an exchange if memory serves

  • “Need a warm winter trail hiking boot that would grip well on hard pack or new snow on top of ice. How would this boot fare in harsh Chicago winter conditions? Would also use with snowshoes.”
Asked by Lea_Michelle from Chicago on 1/3/2016 7:44:12 AM
    • I just came home from a hike in these boots. I live in VT, where it finally snowed about a week ago. The snow on the path was about 4 inches deep, hard and crusty, not especially slick most of the time. The boots felt sturdy and supportive, and the traction was good. I would use them with crampons though if the conditions were icier. Their waterproofing is good, but I can't speak to their warmth because I used toe warmers.

    • We just got back from a trip to Fairbanks, Alaska for viewing the Northern Lights and dogsledding! They were perfect! Warm with a heavy sock, stabile on the slick snow and completely dry feet! We have bought 2 pair for the cold Colorado winters and love them! Haven't used them with our snowshoes yet, but plan to. No reason they won't perform as perfectly as they have for every other use! They are also great in the summer for hiking and fishing for good ankle stability!

    • I have snowshoes with mine here in Utah and they are great. I think the key with these boots is definitely have a great, warm, tall, well padded technical sock. I feel the insole could have some more cushion so I insert my Asia running shoe insole and use Phd Smartwool ski or snowboard socks. The boots are warm and comfortable and fit true to size. I am a women's size 6.

  • “The tread on shoe looking kind of smooth. I'm worried that they won't grip wet rock as well as, say, the Anhu's I've worn. These would be for my daughter who needs something that grips better than her North Face Hedgehogs.”
Asked by Marc from Massachusetts on 10/14/2014 8:15:29 AM
    • The tread is not completely smooth, however the variations are subtle. The tread depth is 3/16s of an inch. I'm not familiar with the other boots you mentioned so do not know how they compare.

    • Hi, I know that this is days after you sent question but I thought I would respond. I have only worn Asolo hiking boots for my work, as I work in the field in Colorado for the US Forest Service. I have been extremely happy with the tread, and I wear these in streams, off trail, on logs, etc. Obviously a different environment than you and your daughter, but I am very happy with them. And I know what it is like to have no tread as I wore my last pair until they became a liability! I wore them to nothing!
