5 day hike on Isle Royale in August

I used these on the Isle Royale in August 2015. Prior to taking them I wore them on small 4-6 mile hikes on the local bluffs to break them in for several months. I also used sno seal to water proof them which worked great. While doing the small hikes the boots worked great while carrying my loaded pack. Within the first day on the Isle I noticed a irritation on the protruding portion at the base of the tibia where the boot was rubbing on one foot. I put some kinseology tape over this bony area which stayed for the rest of the trip with no other problems. The boots provided good support over the rock and roots. One person asked me about these boots and I told her they seemed like a good boot. She said a lot of people are wearing hiking type shoes. I prefer these when stepping in mud and wet areas, they take longer to dry I suppose but my feet never got wet from the wet terrain. They seemed like a very supportive boot out of the box but that has decreased as using them. They have become more flexible which is to be expected with wear.
