Comfy fit out of box, outstanding support

I've owned these for 10 years. They are now worn and I'm here to buy another pair. I used them biweekly for light construction and moderate to difficult backpacking over the years.

This boot had a superior fit to my foot out of the box. It also has tremendous support. I've never paid so much ($300 REI 2006) nor gotten as much ROI out of a shoe/boot.

I wear a 10.5w in everyday shoes. I don't remember and can't tell what I bought after 10 years of use. Sorry no help on sizing.

Extreme grip on most any surface and slope. Warm in winter, moderately warm foot temp in summer, waterproof the entire 10 years, became extremely comfortable with age, lacing range allowed for overnight to loose (easy to find a sweet spot), cleaned up and conditioned only annually but still look good today.

After 10 years, there is virtually no grip left and the "rubber" structure has deteriorated and recently tore on impact with rock. Rather than normal wear, I believe the was do to the "rubber" aging.

I bought a pair of $180 Oboz at the local shop. They just didn't fit my foot as well (had to add a 1/2 size for length but then the medium width was too roomy in the toe box). A boot fit is so crtitcal on long and heavy trail days and a near-perfect fit is required. I'm thankful the store took my return after I found these Asolo's were still available. Ordering today!
