Verified Buyer Reviewed by Fisherman from from NJ on Thursday, April 17, 2014Nice skis, mounted them with Rottefella NNN for a well balanced set-up. There are for beginners/intermediates or if you just want a cheaper 2nd set for not-so-ideal conditions. The wax-free system is only so good in icy / steep conditions as is to be expected. Tried them just a few times before the snow unfortunately melted in the parks where I go xc skiing around here. These are 2nds, the top markings are a smidge off including the balance point indication so pay attention when you mount the bindings. Also the top of the ski at the back end is (deliberately?) cut off. I covered that with epoxy to prevent moisture from getting into the ski. Tip: I still wax the front and back with a good glider wax to enhance the glide - I feel it works quite well that way.
Reviewed by Peter from Northern Michigan on Thursday, December 19, 2013Wife and I each purchased a pair (163 & 183) and after a few trips out, are quite satisfied with them, especially for the price. Disagree with previous review that the skis are too stiff - ours seem appropriate for the lengths. They've performed well on varied terrain and in the mostly new snow we've had so far this season. The bases seemed surprisingly quick, if a bit soft/prone to damage. Upon close inspection they appear to be slight 2nds - but nothing to lose sleep over given our intended use - touring/bushwacking.
Reviewed by skier from Klamath falls, OR on Sunday, March 18, 2012Ski has minimal grip on steep uphills compared to other crown skis. Ski is very stiff throughout preventing good grip during touring.
- Cons: Poor climbing performance
- Pros: Great on downhill, Lightweight
