Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jason from California on Tuesday, February 14, 2017I wore them for three days of skiing. They were warm and tough enough for me. I have normal-sized men's hands, and found the L to be a bit too small.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Skiing in Utah from Utah on Monday, February 13, 2017Used them this weekend for the first time skiing in Southern Utah in 20-30 deg temps. . Liked the partial leather palm, and mitts were warm. My hands sweat, so needed to change them out half way through the day. I bought the large based on the reviews, even though I am usually a medium. I liked the elastic cuff, less cumbersome than drawstring and fit under the cuff of my jacket.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Old but adventurous from Washington state on Monday, January 23, 2017Earlier this winter I was going to be skiing in cold weather (4F with strong winds) and bought a pair of well-recommended lined mittens at REI for $110, a scary sum for me. found I had a hard time gripping my ski poles but the mittens were just okay for warmth. Later I found this pair of Auclair mittens at Sierra Trading Post for about 1/4 the price with tax. I wore them skiing this past weekend and they were very warm and also flexible and grippy. I had no trouble holding my poles and manipulating objects with my hands and found they fit better than the more expensive pair, as well. I'm very satisfied!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by shopgirl from Iowa on Thursday, January 12, 2017I bought these for a gift for my father, I thought if he didn't care for them I would give them to my son or husband, I ordered a size medium, since none of the men in my family have large hands. Unfortunately, the cuffs are so narrow they do not work for them. I plan to keep them for myself, because they ended up fitting me. They're warm lofty mittens. Young teens & women would wear the small or medium, and men the large or x-large.

“Doing some winter camping this year. Would these work good to keep my hands warm out in the cold for a couple days.
Some people I know do a 3 glove layering system. So If I followed that would these cover the warmth and wind blocking layer?
The three layers are wicking, warmth and wind.”
Yes - they would. I wore a pair of liner gloves underneath because I have extremely cold hands and I was dry and warm. I don't think they would stand up to chopping wood, but would be great for hiking, sitting, skiing, etc.
These are waterproof, windproof, and insulated.
These are the warmest mittens I've EVER worn. I go outside when it is cold, and it is like all the warm air from inside stays with me. IF anything gets cole, it is thumbs that can be pulled into the center and warmed with the fingers. They are GREAT! You may not even need additional layers in my experience, and I'm someone who has perpetually cold hands.
