My wife and I had these on a backpacking excursion a couple of weeks ago. I didn't read the directions well before we left: after rehydration, you have to cook it in a skillet. We still ate them and they were fine, just runny.

    These are great for packing, as long as you don't mind bringing a frying pan along. Also work great for road trips where bringing a pan is not as much of an issue. Flavor is good, toss with a little extra cheese to make it deluxe.

    When backpacking, I don't want the mess of cooking in a pan, so I only use these for road trips / car camping. They take up less space and don't require refrigeration -- an added bonus for use in desert environments.
