Most Helpful 5-Star Review
A spectuarily lightweight backpacking knife....with caveatsReviewed by Colinsdad from Longmeadow MA on Monday, March 5, 2018I've been looking to get my hands on one of these EXACT knives for years! However, they became well nigh impossible to locate, and, when they were available, due to demand, thou paid accordingly. Now that I actually have one, at first blush, I was suitably impressed.... as well as somewhat disappointed, all at the same time.
I wanted a decent lightweight knife I could use as part of my ultralight backpacking gear, along with being suitable for EDC. I had figured, based on the statistics and online reviews, that this knife was a winner.
When I recieved the Blister package, I could certainly tell how light this knife is. After getting it freed from its plastic prison, I noticed one omission right off the bat - no thumbstud, or any way to open the blade safely with one hand. I'm sure there's going to be someone who reads this review and says out loud "No Dummy, you do.....(fill in mode of opening here)". Then, once you open the knife, an issue becomes apparent - the edge on this knife is pretty dull. Starting with a 600 grit stone, then an 800 and, finally, a 20 minute session (I took my time and worked slowly) with my Work Sharp rotary belt take tabletop sander with a 1000 grit belt, it is sharp enough to shave with..... very literally.
Other than the shoddy edge (maybe I got a rare dud?) and the lack of small thumbstud or something similar, it is absolutely everything I thought it would be! A small jar of full lip balm seriously feels heavier than this knife does. The liner lock is direct and positive, the pocket clip works very well, and it feels nice in the hand... balanced for how light it is, opened.
For those looking for a blade you can add to your ultralight gear list, this knife certainly impresses! Plus, at the discount price STP offers them at, this purchase is frankly a no brainer! I'm placing an order for a few more, along with the 15g model for my son and, possibly, another one for my nephew who is in the Boy Scouts. Also, a Thank you is in order from someone who has been looking for one of these for years, and, for offering these at such a reasonable price! After some touching up of the blade, I have now found my daily EDC blade - well done STP!
Torn... some 5-star and some 3 star qualitiesReviewed by LikesGoodThingsThatWork from Scottsdale, AZ on Sunday, March 4, 2018Arrived quite sharp. SUPER light. I think this is a nice backup blade but the same design that makes it light and folding also is it's draw back as if you are applying a decent amount of pressure or force then blade can swing out of line/lock. The unlock of this knife occurs by giving the clip side a squeeze... I found it quite easy to unlock unintentionally unless I was extra mindful of the setup. Sooo..... 5 star for sharpness and weight... great way to carry an extra blade while hunting, fishing, backpacking but definitely NOT a primary blade.
