Black Diamond Lanterns Rock!!!

First off, let mr state for the record I consider myself a light- weight, not an ultra light-weight Backpacker. The Apollo fills a niche in my pack that compliments my 2 other Black Diamond lanterns. My wife carries the new Moji lantern weighing a mere 4.2oz with batteries. It's great for hanging in the tent but not that great when sitting at picnic table heating water or eating, cards, etc. I had always carried the Voyager, weighing in at 8.3oz with batteries. Perfect for hanging in the tent and better for table sitting illumination. But still, to get max light spread, you really need to set it up on something. Enter the Apollo: the real weight with batteries is 11.4oz which really suprised me because it looks twice the size of the Voyager. With the legs folded out, the light source is around 7in off your table, vs. The 3 3/4in of the Voyager. The plastic globe/ body is taller and wider also. Add in the 5 extra lumens and it really throws noticeably more light out. Made me the king of the camp on our last trek with everyone's stoves on the picnic table at dusk. Plus it cut down on the devil- spawned headlamps. And as with the BD's other lamps, it still has the two folding hooks on top for hanging. I really dig it and I feel it gives me the max bang for my ounces. If you're not an ounce Nazi, the Apollo rocks!
