I've had a few different types of trekking poles over the years and recently broke my last pair during a 8 day backpack trip in Colorado. I was crossing a rock slide, end of the pole got stuck between two rocks and I pulled too hard breaking the end. So I needed a new pair. I wanted something that was lightweight, dependable, minimal bells & whistles, etc. I found the shock absorbing types a waste and added a lot of weight. I wasn't looking for a cork handle, but ended up liking it better than the traditional black sponge type material. Holds up well when your hands get hot and sweaty. After a bunch of research I focused these and was shocked to see them on Sierra for such an amazing price. They're great! Solid construction, amazingly light, super easy to put together, simple design, compact for carrying in the pack when not in use (15 inches vs most are 25 inches when collapsed). No real cons other than maybe the color, since they're a shiny aluminum color.
