Does the search for a backpacking tent light ever end? These are great lights, and have ended my search for a hangable tent light for at least a few more years. These are very bright inside a three person tent. They are light weight, compact, and diffuse the light inside the tent well. These use 3 AAA batteries. The lesser Moji light uses 2 AAA batteries and is 50 lumens less bright. If ounces are more important that light, the 100 lumen 2 AAA Moji light for a little less might be the better choice. I like to read at night in the tent though, and like this brighter, 150 lumen light better.

Lots of light should work perfect for my needs
  • Excellent light

The good: 150 Lumens, even light distribution base down or hanging base up. The dual hanging hooks work well. Dims nicely.

The bad: Switch is a little hard to find. No lock on switch to keep light from accidentally being turned on.
  • OK if hanging

I did not test the Moji XP in the field but bought one and tried it at home. I ended up choosing the Black Diamond Voyager over the Moji XP. The Moji XP works great when hanging. It produces an even warm light. It could be used sitting on a table top but most of the light is directed upward, little on the table. Also the lantern is a slightly blinding to look down on. The switch is hard to find in the dark. The switch is not protected and can easily be turned on when packed. The Moji XP is somewhat larger than I expected, about the size of an apple. The light output is not bright enough to light a campsite. The light is bright enough to illuminate a seating area very well. Perfect hanging above a picnic table or from a high tent ceiling. The Moji XP is well suited for car camping. If backpacking take a look at the standard Moji. It is not quite as bright but significantly smaller.
