    • I find it easier using the batteries. I have not used the USB source yet. In most instances you should be able to use either or. I hope I answered your question. It works awesome!

    • You do not need to use both, its either or and it comes with both. I've found the rechargeable's to work very well!

    • You have to remove the rechargeable batteries from the device to use fresh batteries. A maximum of 3 batteries will be in the device at a time.

    • The three AAA batteries that come with the headlamp are rechargeable. They plug into any convenient USB port. I keep mine plugged into the cigarette lighter in my suburban after every fishing trip.

    • Yes, and one of the most comfortable headlamps I have worn. Adjustable brightness on the beams a plus, red lamp a must on night trips.

    • As per the company website, it appears to be a 2013 model. The 110 Lumen rating is based on alkaline batteries, but the drop in brightness between the two is marginal. The biggest difference is the run time, as expected, although if used reasonably either should get you through a full night long emergency.
