Campsite Cooking: Backpacking Beef and Noodles

Whether you are a long distance backpacker, family car camper or cast iron cooking fan, you've got to have new ideas for your outdoor meals. We've put together this series of campsite cooking recipes that will give you some ideas for new backcountry meals.

Last week we featured a Trailside Chicken and Rice backpacking recipe. This week we've got another easy lightweight backpacking recipe. Watch the video to see the meal prepared then see the ingredients below.

Campsite Cooking: Beef & Noodles




Beef & Noodles is an easy backpacking recipe that is inexpensive, packable and easy to cook while you are on the trail. There are few ingredients and it only takes boiling water to cook. Here's what you'll need.

Ingredients:

1/2 bag- Jerkey
1 package- Instant onion soup mix
Season lightly with your favorite seasonings
1 package- Ramen

At Home:

Tear the beef jerkey into bite sized pieces. Mix beef jerkey, Ramen, seasonings and onion soup mix to a zip-lock bag.

On the Trail:

Boil 2 cups of water. Add mix directly to boiling water. Boil until the Ramen Noodles are cooked.
