Mountainsmith Brand Spotlight and Giveaway

Born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Mountainsmith offers seriously durable mountain gear that stands up to some of the most rugged backcountry terrain in the world. Renowned outdoorsman Patrick Smith founded the company in 1979 with the Centennial State as his proving ground. He has since put forth three serious innovations in outdoor gear.

Mountainsmith produced the world's first fully rigid backcountry ski sled to haul loads of gear effectively and efficiently through the wilderness in winter. The company then produced the first lumbar pack for carrying gear in the backcountry. It expanded on that with a patent for a lumbar pack using the Delta Load Compression system, which lives on in today's packs and lumbars.

This rugged brand applied those same principles to other outdoor gear. Durable as their packs are, a Mountainsmith tent can survive a typical mountain storm, and Mountainsmith trekking poles will stand up to the toughest trail. You can find products from this brand at Sierra Trading Post's everyday values. Take a look at some of the gear currently available.

Mountainsmith Brand Spotlight

1. Mountainsmith Modular Hauler 4: With four color-coded modules, you can store, haul and organize your gear with the Modular Hauler 4. It's constructed of tough, Mountainsmith-quality ripstop nylon and can store in your car or garage.

2. Mountainsmith Cross Country 3.0 Backpack: Mountainsmith gives us a versatile, backcountry ready piece of equipment that features a daypack for brief outings and a dual-access main compartment.

3. Mountainsmith Tour Lumbar Pack: For urban and rural explorations, take a day's worth of supplies in the Tour lumbar pack. This well-designed pack keeps all your necessities within easy reach and won't weight you down.

4. Mountainsmith 20° Redcloud Sleeping Bag: Lightweight and warm, the Redcloud 20°F sleeping bag has MountainLoft hollow fiber synthetic insulation for a good night's sleep in the outdoors.

5. Mountainsmith Celestial Tent: This versatile, 3-season shelter has Yunnan aluminum poles that are 25 percent stronger than titanium poles, but still won't weigh you down in the backcountry.

I'd love to win some gear because then we can get our family of four out on the trails and sleeping under the stars. After a storage flood, we lost all of our gear to mold. No one told us the flood happened so we only discovered the morning that we were leaving to camp. I want my kids to connect with and explore nature rather than play video games. Thanks for the giveaway.

Well, I don't really have anything for a true "backpacking" backpack, just a normal, regular sized one which is great for my everyday needs as a bike commuter, etc., but for true hiking, camping, & mountainous adventures, which is what I'm getting to here, the Mountainsmith Cross Country 3.0 would definitely do the trick & allow me to carry everything I'd need. So without further explanation, that pretty much sums it up! :-)
