The weather is warming up and we're all starting to think about fun outdoor adventures. Life can get busy so it's important to plan for a summer full of outdoor fun before the warm weather starts to slip away. Follow these tips to make of most of your summer.

Plan Your Summer Outdoor Fun Now


Is this the year you need to finally visit your family? Time to take the kids to Disneyland? Or is it the year you do that backpacking trip you've always wanted to do? Plan for it now. Pull out your calendar, mark out those dates, request your time off work and make any reservations you'll need to make. Commit to at least one epic trip and more if you can swing it.

If you wait until the last minute, something will always come up or you may not be able to get the reservations you wanted. So plan ahead to be sure you can take that dream vacation this summer.

Dream Big for Summer Fun


Let's face it, life's all about memories so be sure to enjoy many moments that you'll never forget. Start training now and you'll be able to do that week long backpacking trip in August or run that half marathon you've always wanted to run. The sky is the >Do Your Homework to Prepare
Do you want to do a section of the Appalachian Trail, hike a Colorado Fourteener or ride RAGBRAI? Start searching now for information that will help you reach these goals. You can find a lot of information online or by reading books. Make sure you know what you'll need to summer outdoor fun in a safe and healthy way.

Invite a Friend


Make sure you've got a friend to take this adventure with you. It is always more fun to do a trip with a friend than on your own and if you chosen involves kids, bringing another family with kids will ensure everyone has a good time. If you're adventure involves training, it will help to have a friend who is also training to workout with.

Make Sure You Have the Right Gear


Nothing will ruin an outdoor adventure like not having the right gear. You'll need hiking boots or comfortable trail runners to keep your feet happy on a long hike and you'll need a lightweight backpack and tent to make backpacking easier and more fun.

If car camping is your thing, you'll want the right temperature sleeping bag and maybe comfortable sleeping pads. Even if you are just going on a European vacation, you'll want lightweight comfortable clothing, comfortable shoes and maybe a light waterproof jacket.

Do the research, know what you'll need and be prepared for the elements no matter what type of adventure you choose.
