These are very comfortable and look great. They have a wide shoe box, which I like.

  • “Is this good for those who have flat feet?”
Asked by Jay from Florida on 7/16/2017 9:03:49 PM
    • Not sure... I like these shoes and I have a high arch
Answered on 7/16/2017 11:28:15 PM by Annie from NC
    • I'm not sure about flat feet. My arch is normal. However, the insoles are removable. If you have orthotics, they would fit well. The shoes are roomy, have a wide toe box and seem pretty durable so far.

  • “Is the width "2a"and what does that mean?”
Asked by Lesa Brandt from Minnesota on 7/14/2017 5:23:56 PM
    • I didn't even notice that is was a "2A" width. I'm not sure what that means either. I always get a normal width....not wide, not narrow. These seemed to be a normal width for me as I've had no problem with them. Very comfortable shoe.

  • “What's the difference between a running and walking Shoe? I'm not a runner, but I walk a lot.”

    • I don't know the difference, but I got these shoes for walking after trying two other types. These have been great. No pain, good support. 5 stars!

    • A walking shoe is specifically made for people who walk a lot (like you). A running shoe is designed for running more than walking. Brooks Ghost is a good neutral running shoe. You should research and focus on walking shoes.

    • I believe the difference is in the amount of support and cushion. I also am a walker and use these running shoes for walking instead of running. They are like pillows of support on your feet.
Answered on 3/23/2017 10:32:25 AM by Dee Kelly from Pittsburgh, PA
    • "As you walk, the body's weight is distributed more evenly on the foot than when you run. When walking, your weight rolls from the heel, through the ball and continues to the toe in one foot after the other. This gentler, rocking-chair like motion requires your feet to absorb the shock of only 1-2x your body weight with each step. And, during walking there are points where both feet are firmly on the ground, dividing weight. Running, on the other hand (or foot for that matter) requires the support of at least 2-3x your body weight and each stride has moments with neither foot on the ground. With each step, the outer heel absorbs most of the impact before distributing weight through the foot in an S motion through toe off. So what's this mean to your shoes? Basically, it's the old axiom of having the right tool for the job.

Walking shoes are designed with the specific body mechanics and strike path of walking in mind. They are constructed to be more flexible through the ball of the foot to allow a greater range of motion through the roll of the forefoot. They also have greater arch support to protect where the force is heaviest on the foot. Running shoes, in contrast, have more cushioning in the heel–the point of impact–and less protection through the ball of the foot. The amount of heat generated in the running motion is greater, so running shoes also are made with a higher amount of mesh to keep feet cool during exercise."--Brooks Shoes website, http://www.newbalance.com/article_walking_vs_running_shoes.html

    • I love my Brooks for everything. Walking, running, and working (standing).

    • I really don't know the answer to that. I buy running shoes because the heel part of the soul is wider than the shoe and offers more stability. I also think there is more in the shaft and toe to allow more spring in the forward stride. Sorry I am not more help.
