Really poorly written instructions, indecipherable. Dial access to replace the battery is frozen, which these items are apparently known for - you cannot replace the battery without destroying the product. You can always give it to your dog and he can wear it as a necklace. Dear Brunton, when you outsource to China, you need to pay particular attention to quality control and hire an American technical writer to re-write the Chinese gibberish instructions. As you probably already know, you pay to have stp ship to you, you also pay to return defective items and that is a sucky policy STP/TJ Maxx.

I ordered this product expecting that it would work. However I found that it didn't, it may have been a battery issue. When I purchase a product that includes a battery, I would expect that the battery be working. By the time I sent it back are received the third one, I was told to supply my own battery. This was a little disconcerting not knowing if the product worked or not. At this time everything seems to working well, so we will see.

The instructions are absurd - tiny print, really complicated, and don't always correlate to how the features work. Way too many modes to page through. The compass (one of the 2 most critical features!) is very touchy, doesn't work if the unit isn't dead level, and its display turns off after just a few seconds, making it almost useless. The buttons on the side are tiny and hard to use.
