Founded in 1880 in Bangor, Maine by a Russian immigrant family, Byer of Maine began as a textile and slipper manufacturing company. Forty-five years later, the company relocated to Orono, Maine and began producing folding, wood-frame cots, many of which were used by the US military during WWII and The Korean War. Today, Byer of Maine cots and camp furniture, including Byer of Maine hammocks, are considered among the best in the outdoor recreation industry. 5.0 out of 5 stars. Simple and comfortable!Reviewed by mrlvpl from Indiana on Wednesday, July 29, 2020Just got back from a short camping trip where my wife and I each used one of these hammocks. The material is soft and breathable, and comfortable to lounge in during hot and cool parts of the day. Packs down easily. You need to provide hanging equipment (we got straps from Sierra on sale), but once you’ve got that, just hook to the loops (don’t untie these like we did) and go. Recommended, especially at this deal.

Took off one star due to it being shorter than others so needed additional chain to fit in my hammock stand and the attachment rings are rope wrapped which would abrade from the S hooks if not protected. We cut some vinyl tubing to line the ring prior to attachment.

Love that I will be able to take this down in the winter & store it in the small nylon bag that it came with.
