I needed something lighter to wear in the summer and these are perfect. Roomy and comfortable fabric make working outside in the heat tolerable.

  • “When will more be in stock to order?”
Asked by Jrod from Texas on 4/13/2018 10:52:02 PM
    • I don't know. Not something available to me.

    • Due to the nature of the closeout business, we often receive items in limited quantities. Therefore, some sizes and colors can sell out quickly, and we do not have information future shipments. We suggest signing up for the My Updates as the best way to monitor incoming products. You will receive email notifications of our newest stock items.

    • When I try to place an order and my size is out of stock, I just check back daily and they usually pop up within a week. I must have a very common size, because they are always low on stock when I try and place an order. Hope this helps.

  • “When they say they are 5 pocket do they mean the one on the leg and not the change? The denim says the leg pocket but the colored ones do not.”
Asked by Holly from South Carolina on 11/8/2017 7:34:24 PM
    • The 5 pocket "style" does not include the leg pockets in the count.

  • “Are these pants light weigh it's hot here need the light jeans with side pockets ”
Asked by Candies2swt71 from Turlock on 5/24/2017 5:37:12 PM
    • Yes. We are in South New Mexico and not only are they a good summer weight, they have lasted a year- and still intact for this coming summer. Totally worth it. The 32's were long, I easily hemmed them.

    • According to Carhartt they are a lighter weight than the traditional duck pants.
Answered on 5/25/2017 11:50:04 AM by Product Specialist from Sierra Trading Post
    • I would call them "medium" weight. Light would be really thin cotton and heavy would be like thick denim. These are in between.

  • “What does factory seconds mean exactly?”
Asked by Nate from Washington on 3/3/2017 12:05:33 PM
    • I have ordered many pairs of these and never found anything noticeable other than some loose threads in the pockets. I just trim them up.
Answered on 3/3/2017 12:27:52 PM by David from VT
    • They have a flaw somewhere meaning they can't be sold for full price in a department store. However the two pairs of pants we bought, we didn't notice any flaw at all and couldn't be happier. The flaw could be length, size, belt loops, etc. Minimal flaw but somehow detected upon inspection prior to sale.
Answered on 3/3/2017 1:53:53 PM by Lindsay from MI
    • It means there is some flaw, usually quite small, that makes them not "perfect" in some way. I have purchased over a dozen pairs of Carhartt "2nds" and I typically cannot find the flaw. ONE time I did actually find the flaw and it was about a 2 inch blemish in the fabric which looked lkike a double stitch or something similar. It was on the leg and in the back. I am a high school teacher and wear Carhartt canvas pants to work every day. They are as comfortable as blue jeans but look professional enough to meet our dress standards. Yes, you do take a bit of a risk. For example the flaw could be right in front and obvious. However, as I said, I have only ever found the flaw one time after nearly 15 pairs of pants have been purchased. For what is usually about half price----- it is worth it!!

    • Factories produce products in "runs." Be it jeans or cabinet doors or red solo cups. They inspect each run with random Quality Control tests. If a QC finds a certain # of items with flaws big enough to reject an item for retail sale, the entire run is typically rejected and placed into second-place status. Some items may be fine, some may have a visible defect, but the factory finds it more profitable to sell their seconds to warehouses in lots for a deep discount rather than take the time and pay an inspector to look over every single item in the run and sort out the 1st placers from the 2nd placers. The only flaw I noticed on my pants was that the button hole got messed up. still works, just not perfect.

    • Factory Seconds = items rejected by quality control as being flawed. The flaw could be visible or internal. It may affect functionality or it might not. Buying seconds is taking a chance, but it could be worth it or it might not. If the item is mission critical (life depends on it) then don't do it. If you can stand a wardrobe malfunction, well it might be worth it...

    • Good question, it is difficult to find any blemish on the pants I have purchased, near imperceptible.
Answered on 3/4/2017 5:11:41 AM by The Local Potter from Ohio
    • 2nds: Minor cosmetic blemishes or irregularities which do not affect the fit, performance, or longevity of the item. Label is usually clipped by the manufacturer. A small flaw means big savings.

  • “Are the side pockets big enough to hold a large cell phone?”
Asked by Penalew from Michigan on 5/14/2016 4:02:14 PM
    • Not really, I have a 6 plus and need to use the back pocket. Only my Columbia shorts have a decent size cell phone pocket.

    • Depending, how large is large??? Right pocket measures 3 1/2" wide and 5 1/2" deep.....left leg is 2 3/4" wide by 6" deep....hope that helps. Fits both of my phones, but mine are not the mini laptops everyone is carrying now....pants are VERY comfortable....

About Carhartt

If you're looking for durable, comfortable clothing and outerwear, few other brands can compete with Carhartt. Although the venerable Carhartt clothing company has become one of the most respected names in American work wear today, the brand comes from humble roots. Founded in 1889, the family-owned business started out in Detroit, Michigan with just two sewing machines and five employees. During The First World War, the company made uniforms for the US military and also manufactured work clothing for the Navy during WWII. Today, Carhartt clothing is still known for robust fabrics, top-notch construction and a great fit. From rugged Carhartt jackets and coveralls to jeans and shirts, this is one brand you can trust to deliver the real deal -- every time.
