Pretty Good Britches

These are pretty good pants. As a construction worker I appreciate the cargo pockets. I prefer the snapped closures over hook and loop closures that require constant re-opening. As with most their line, Carhartt tries to walk the line between a casual pant and a true working-mans pant. For example, the cargo pockets are not bellowed or otherwise designed to carry any real cargo. If you try and carry fasteners in these cargo pockets be prepared to be poked and stuck with every motion and struggle to extract the fasteners. They lean to the casual wear side of the line. The cut, with the gusseted crotch is good and functional. The sizing is waay off. Mine ran two sizes too small in the waist. I've worn Carhartts for longer than I like to remember and have always worn the same size. This cost me extra exchange time and postage by the time I got the fit right. The ripstop fabric I've found to be tough, durable and light in other work pants and anticipate the same from these. I can recommend these with the caveat that you order a larger than normal waist size and may have to pay more than anticipated to get the fit right.
