Lightweight, Soft & Comfy for Light Work

Though I'd ordered this product in the regular length to accomodate my 5'7" height - a pair of the 'short' length overalls was shipped and when I inquired about an exchange there wasn't a pair available in the regular length. Consequently my comments about fit will be skewed by the fact that they are a bit too short in the inseam for my best fit/preference. Happily, however, the adjustability of the straps as well as the gently loose fit at the waist/thighs will allow just enough length when I bend to make them workable without being 'floods' or digging in the crotch. A-ok. Just. At least the hems will not drag in the mud over my boots. I tried my work belt on as well as a gardening pocket apron and a regular belt - and at that point I lost too much length in the legs - they looked like capris and rode up too much. However - that's just because these are the 'short' version and I need the extra couple of inches the 'regulars' would have given me to be able to belt them. However, maybe most gals do not belt their overalls. These have enough pockets and loops for some basic tools/items anyway. The stretch in the fabric is quite a nice, subtle feature for all the bending I have to do in the garden when I wear them. The fabric is very lightweight, very very soft and breathable - making them ideal for hot weather use. They are not, however, very thick or reinforced in the seat or knees- so I expect some thinning at stress points quickly and having to patch knees at some point. If I catch them on a goat horn or very sharp brambles - they could even get a small hole is what the fabric feels like. But oh are they soft! I wish Carhart made more reinforced (read: double fabric) pants/overalls in all of their women's line. As it is I believe reinforced items for women are only available in their insulated cold weather gear. The overalls otherwise are super comfy, decent looking (flattering is not a word I'd ever use for any overalls but at least these don't add offense). There is plenty of room in my size small for some light layering underneath and the clips on the straps seem strong and are very fast and easy to clip and unclip in and out of. The button holes at the waist could be better stitched/reinforced - as they are I foresee they will widen quickly - allowing the buttons to slip out - a thing that can happen with overalls (my old Osh Kosh's did this). I can swiftly sew them more closed if need be. But the fabric sealed the deal for me - it's just so soft and light - I could wear them day and night - making it pleasant to work. Finally - the width of the legs is a plus. Easily can accomodate long undies, slips over boots and clogs of all kinds and also legs slip and stay inside taller 'wellie' type to the knee boots. Very easy to bend and kneel in, as well. Recommended for light weather light work. Just watch the knees and button holes at the waist - if you're really hard on your pants. For reference I am 5'7" tall, around 135 lbs with wide hips and full thighs, wide shoulders and a 34D bust. I often take a size 6 in pants and a 4 in tops. The small are plenty roomy overall, seriously seem like a size M. I assume the inseam length in the regular would have suited me best - but due to the excellent sale price - I'm keeping these 'short' ones with an inseam of around 30" - because otherwise they are just what I was looking for!
