  • “Do these pants accommodate knee pads between the double layer?”
Asked by Chryspin Glovver from Oregon on 8/4/2017 9:18:10 PM
    • Yes, they don't come with it .
Answered on 8/5/2017 12:55:14 AM by Welter from California
    • No they do not. There is not enough room to put anything between the layers. It's a double layer of fabric that helps the pants last twice as long in the knees.
Answered on 8/5/2017 6:07:31 AM by Alex from Idaho
    • Yes, there's a three inch opening at the bottom of the double nee panel and the area between is approximately six inches wide by 19 inches deep.
Answered on 8/5/2017 9:14:54 AM by Scott from Montana
    • They are double front, but the purpose is to keep them from wearing out as fast as single layer. They are not made to accommodate knee pads.

    • No, they're just 2 pieces of material stitched together, there's no gap/slot between them

  • “what are factory seconds?”
Asked by Gigi the inquisitor from Virginia on 5/13/2017 11:20:13 AM
    • The item did not pass a quality inspection, maybe one leg is slightly different in length or width, the color maybe off, the pocket may be sewn on a angle, etc..

    • Items that have some flaw, possibly minor. They can not be sent to the retailer at full cost, so they are sent to outlets to sell discounted. I bought Carhartt Double-Front Dungaree Jeans. There are a couple of places where the "double-front" fabric was not sewn all the way around, but those places are on the bottom and that doesn't bother me. I could sew them myself if I wanted, but they are fine with me as they are. In my case, the minor defects don't have any bearing on the usefulness or durability.

    • Factory seconds, also known as factory rejects or simply seconds, are retail items which, through minor fault of manufacture, are sold to the public for a reduced rate, rather than being discarded.
Answered on 5/13/2017 1:41:08 PM by Helen from Northwest
    • They are generally items that are rejected by a factory due to minor imperfections. Most of the time they are imperfections that really aren't noticeable. I can't tell on the ones I bought at all??
Answered on 5/13/2017 4:26:08 PM by Kiko from Taos, NM
    • There is a minor defect in the pants. I have been purchasing these for the last few years and have not really seen any noticeable defects. I would definitely recommend them.
Answered on 5/14/2017 6:44:56 AM by Nathan the plumber from Ohio
    • Factory seconds are the "rejects" that don't make it through Carhartt's production standards. I will say that I have bought two pairs of these pants for my farmer of a boyfriend and we both could not find what wasn't up to their standards. I sometimes will be able to tell what is up with seconds (seams that aren't quite aligned or missing a random rivet) but he has been super satisfied by these. I honestly won't buy him the full price Carhartts because these work just as well and he goes through them so fast it adds up fa$t! Thanks STP! I hope this helped

    • I have never heard that term used before but my guess would be like "irregulars", you know something wrong with the item, usually the mishap is nothing extremely noticeable so for me it's always a consideration, hope this helps.
Answered on 5/14/2017 7:48:29 PM by Wayne from Florida
    • They usually have a slight imperfection, all of the factory seconds I have purchased from Sierra Trading you cannot find any flaws in
Answered on 5/15/2017 3:12:31 AM by George from NEW YORK
    • 2nds: Minor cosmetic blemishes or irregularities which do not affect the fit, performance, or longevity of the item. Label is usually clipped by the manufacturer. A small flaw means big savings.

    • While they state "washed" they are quite fresh whereas the weathered look as though they have been broken in and worn already. I prefer the washed as they are quite comfortable and clean looking. Hope that makes sense.

    • The double front dungarees will last five times longer than any other Carhartts. They are very durable and give an extra layer of protection for your knees. I prefer the double front dungaree to any other Carhartts.

About Carhartt

If you're looking for durable, comfortable clothing and outerwear, few other brands can compete with Carhartt. Although the venerable Carhartt clothing company has become one of the most respected names in American work wear today, the brand comes from humble roots. Founded in 1889, the family-owned business started out in Detroit, Michigan with just two sewing machines and five employees. During The First World War, the company made uniforms for the US military and also manufactured work clothing for the Navy during WWII. Today, Carhartt clothing is still known for robust fabrics, top-notch construction and a great fit. From rugged Carhartt jackets and coveralls to jeans and shirts, this is one brand you can trust to deliver the real deal -- every time.
