I'm 5'7", 165-170lbs,athletic build, ordered size medium and found the jacket an exact body fit (a true medium) no room to layer. • “How warm is this jacket? Sufficient for 20-degree weather?”
Asked by Margaret from Seattle on 1/20/2018 2:39:24 PM
    • Easily. It is fine down below zero if you are working and not just standing still. This jacket is really well thought out - love it.

    • I live in central California winter lows may hit the 20s once in a blue moon, however, I did send one to my son in Kansas -7 degrees last I checked and he tells me the jacket is perfect. We did size up to allow for layering. He layers a light puffer synthetic when it's that cold but you could certainly use a light down and or with a vest. The thing about having a hardy canvas outer layer is how well it holds up to the construction environment. Welders, grinders, chop saws, sharp metal edges threading oils are brutal opposed to delicate nylon-fabric outer shells. Hope this info helps. Cant go wrong free easy returns, and excellent customer service.

    • I think its prefect for that type weather, in fact I'm on the east coast and got it in time for these winter storms we've been having and its been great definitely my new favorite Jacket.

    • In Oregon, we have 30 and sometimes below. I wear a t-shirt and a thin pull-over with a scarf and it keeps me warm. This jacket does a good job of keeping the warmth in. I also like the extended lower area to covering the behind, but doesn't pull when jumping in the truck. I also have been wearing the jacket in 50 degree weather and it breaths well with the zipper 1/2 open.

Additionally, the backside of the collar has snaps that accommodate the optional hood you can purchase separately. (take note there are two different types of hoods, one fleece lined that matches the jacket, and another that is more dense for colder weather)... on that note, if your looking for something to really take the cold, Carhartt offers this...

    • Absolutely! I would wear layers underneath but yes, I have worn mine when it was that cold and colder; it's very warm and it keeps the wind off which it the best.

    • Sorry there is not a temperature rating due to the number of factors that affect how warm it may keep you.

  • “What is the length on this jacket? I know the big and tall length is 30". Is this similar or is there a true difference?”
Asked by Christina D from North Carolina on 1/19/2018 7:03:35 AM
    • Well for me it was about just right I like a bomber style jacket fit. It makes it easy to wear access a tool belt without the coat getting in the way. Very satisfied with my choice.

    • The length for my regular XL is approximately 29.5” in the front & 31” in the back.

    • I really can't answer this because I bought this for my brother in PA and I live in FL. But I can tell you, he really loves it, he said it comes just to his pocket on his jeans and that's perfect.

    • The one I bought for my son hits him at mid hip, similar to the picture above. I do not know the actual length but he is 5'8" and it fit's him perfectly.
      Hope that helps...

  • “Do you also sell the hood attachment? If so, how much does that add to the price of the jacket. Also, do you add to the price for a "tall" size? Again, if so how much. I need a size XL-Tall.”
Asked by Santee Claws from California on 11/23/2016 6:48:34 AM
    • We do not sell the hood attachment. The price is the same for all sizes.

About Carhartt

If you're looking for durable, comfortable clothing and outerwear, few other brands can compete with Carhartt. Although the venerable Carhartt clothing company has become one of the most respected names in American work wear today, the brand comes from humble roots. Founded in 1889, the family-owned business started out in Detroit, Michigan with just two sewing machines and five employees. During The First World War, the company made uniforms for the US military and also manufactured work clothing for the Navy during WWII. Today, Carhartt clothing is still known for robust fabrics, top-notch construction and a great fit. From rugged Carhartt jackets and coveralls to jeans and shirts, this is one brand you can trust to deliver the real deal -- every time.
