Great cut, great fabric - strange knee feature

Was really excited about these pants looking like they'd be great durable and flexible pants for hiking and climbing. The cut and fit is great and the fabric is a great match. HOWEVER, the way the knees "articulate" with a "hidden" panel were a major deal breaker for me and was why I returned them without more than trying them on. The extra seams across the knee is uncomfortable, the hidden panel once you bend you knee to pop it open never closes unless you do it manually, and the introduction of extra seams for a soft, not as durable, spandexy fabric on the point of the pants that usually gets the most wear does not inspire confidence that these will hold up very well. Most manufacturers beef up and reinforce the knees, Carhartt made these one's more delicate. Which is too bad, if they fixed this sole feature to say a traditional double knee solution, these would be awesome pants.
