I needed an in between winter and spring coat. This was a great purchase. I can't tell where anything in the construction would make it a 2nd. The fit is excellent, and it will serve me for several years on my farm.

I've purchased many of these for my customers and have only found one, insignificant blemish on any of them. This is one of my favorite Carhartts. Highly recommend.

The rancher coat brings all the top qualities of Carhartt brand together in a very serviceabile garment. I was looking for a medium weight coat though enough to stand up to the quarry / mining conditions I work in. With layering good to much lower temperatures than these in in SW Texas. Great product - meets all expect ions!

Warm. Cell phone pocket is nice with the pass through for ear buds. Like the two way zipper. True to size.
    Shipping was fast.

If there are blemishes, I don't see them. Part of the reason I bought the jacket is for its rugged blemished good looks anyway.
I live in Arizona, but I needed a winter jacket for trips back east in the winter time. This jacket should be perfect for that. I'm a little concerned about the zipper, it is a heavy duty metal zipper. It was hard to operate at first, but seems to get better the more I operated it.

This is my first Carhartt, and it is perfect. Will certainly last longer than me. It is extremely well made and looks and fits great. I'm 6 ft. and 225 lbs. and the XL is just right. I've always wanted a coat that I can work in while in bad weather, and this will fit the bill. Get one.

    • Light rain probably not. Driving pouring rain for long periods of time I would use scotch guard.

    • I found a slight water repellancy with this coat, but I was wearing it mostly in the extreme of winter this past season. More snow than rain.
Answered on 6/21/2015 11:00:38 AM by Chuck from Maine
    • The best answer I can give is that the fabric and weave seem to be water resistant but of course they are not water proof as this is not a raincoat. If someone wanted to use this often in the pouring rain or to spend a long time in medium rain then scotch guarding it would likely be beneficial. However: since adding a couple of coats of Scotch Guard to fabric will make it breathe less, you will also feel hotter and more sweaty while wearing it, which should be taken into consideration if you are in a warm or humid climate.

    • Given that this coat is not advertised as waterproof, scotchguarding maybe a prudent precaution.

About Carhartt

If you're looking for durable, comfortable clothing and outerwear, few other brands can compete with Carhartt. Although the venerable Carhartt clothing company has become one of the most respected names in American work wear today, the brand comes from humble roots. Founded in 1889, the family-owned business started out in Detroit, Michigan with just two sewing machines and five employees. During The First World War, the company made uniforms for the US military and also manufactured work clothing for the Navy during WWII. Today, Carhartt clothing is still known for robust fabrics, top-notch construction and a great fit. From rugged Carhartt jackets and coveralls to jeans and shirts, this is one brand you can trust to deliver the real deal -- every time.
