Needed an "in-between" coat before real winter is here and this coat fits the bill perfectly. Warm for temps below 35. Lining in the sleeves is superb for keeping warm. Longer back keeps your bum warm too! Well made which you would expect from Carhartt. Terrific for walking the dogs, doing outside w... Read More

Typical Carhartt, looks like it will be durable.
Well made and warm. Only con might be the weight, rather heavy.
But what would you expect from a thick canvas jacket.
It doesn't bother me, I love the look and feel.

I bought this jacket as a gift for my sister. She found it to be roomy not binding. But it kept out both wind and cold
as the weather was not in out favor. The longer length covers your backside while four wheeling as well.
    Definitely a good buy.

I love this coat! I purchased it to wear while doing outsides chores/work. I couldn't be happier. The fit is great. The shoulders are roomy enough that I can layer a hoody under it and the sleeves are the perfect length! I like that there are internal draw strings to give the waist a more fitted look while still having the roominess in the shoulders. I also really like the length, it hits right at hips!

Carhartt has a great reputation of being warm, durable and stylish, which they have earned. Now, they are making these coats for us women and I love mine! It's very warm but not balky. Feels good in very cold weather but not stifling on days not so cold. Carhartt is a tradition and we are a Carhartt family. And to find a Carhartt jacket at such a low price made it even better!

This is the second Carhartt I purchased from STP in 2 months. The Traditional Arctic Jacket in XL is a bit bulky, though warm and comfy, and I wanted a little less. This fit the bill and the size Large fits great. The Ridge jacket looks really nice on, is warm and comfortable and the dark green is a good color. I will keep the Arctic for super cold days, but this is now my go to jacket. Order down in size, there is plenty of room in the chest.

  • “Are these jackets comparable in warmth or designed for the same type of conditions as the Carhartt arctic? They are heavier, in comparing the ounces, but this one doesn't really say anything about warmth in the "name" of it.”
Asked by Anonymous from Unknown on 12/26/2009 12:00:00 AM
    • I tried on both at a feed store and the Arctic was much heavier feeling, much warmer. The flap in front of the zipper on the Arctic is to protect the zipper from freezing if you have cold winds and moisture. However, the sherpa lined pockets in the Ridge jacket are a nice touch. I would say this one is not as "hard core" for the cold as the Arctic, as the name would imply. But it is warmer than, say, the Detroit. :)

    • May not be Carhartt Arctic wear but is a quality outer layer and has a great degree of warmth.

About Carhartt

If you're looking for durable, comfortable clothing and outerwear, few other brands can compete with Carhartt. Although the venerable Carhartt clothing company has become one of the most respected names in American work wear today, the brand comes from humble roots. Founded in 1889, the family-owned business started out in Detroit, Michigan with just two sewing machines and five employees. During The First World War, the company made uniforms for the US military and also manufactured work clothing for the Navy during WWII. Today, Carhartt clothing is still known for robust fabrics, top-notch construction and a great fit. From rugged Carhartt jackets and coveralls to jeans and shirts, this is one brand you can trust to deliver the real deal -- every time.
