So far, I love this coat. I teach outdoor labs through the winter often in brushy areas with multiflora rose and blackberry. I pretty much exclusively wear Carhartt products when I teach because they're the only clothing that can hold up to these conditions while also keeping me warm. This jacket fi... Read More

  • Love my Carhartt Wesley Coat!

My husband and I spend a lot of time out of doors tending our gardens, the orchard and caring for the animals. Last year for Christmas, I bought my whole family Carhartt jackets and they all love them. So, this year, I bought myself one and of an entire closet full of jackets, this one is my favorite! It is super warm, and I really like the cozy flannel lining and Sherpa around the collar. Although, it's an "irregular" I haven't found anything that appears to be flawed. It is cute, fits as described in the chart and I really like that it's machine washable, because out here...we get dirty! It's classic Carhartt Brown, and I feel like a stylish but sensibly dressed farm girl wearing it.

Even knowing Carhartt's quality standards, I was concerned about the cost being a factory 2nd. In the end, unless the "wear" pattern of the dye was more than desired, I can't find anything else wrong with the coat. Washed and dried per instructions resulting in some of the bulk shrinking away making the coat fit even better. I ordered by my measurements and the size chart. There is plenty of room for layering. So need to size up. I ordered the Hudson Blue. As others have said,. It's more grey with blue undertones than blue and is a mid tone color vice a dark charcoal or a light dove grey. Different but still neutral. Definitely worn/weathered in appearance.

I got this jacket in just a box, it wasn’t even covered in plastic. Considering I live in Washington where it rains a lot that’s a problem. It also had fine grit or sand in all the pockets and in the fabric. It was a nice jacket and definitely on the bigger size. I would reorder but I might get the same thing with the next one.

  • “Can u snap a Carhart hood onto this jacket?”
Asked by Jina from Wisconsin on 10/7/2018 9:51:42 AM
    • The jacket has no means of attaching a hood unless you are considering modifying the jacket to add snaps or another means of attaching the hood. It is a standard collar lined with sherpa. For myself, I prefer not having a hood as it allows me to choose my own head covering or go without. If you are 'handy', any garment can be modified but 'out of the box' this jacket does not facilitate a Carhart hood.

    • There are no existing snaps to attach a hood on this coat.

  • “Can anyone give a ballpark figure as to what temperature this coat is best suited?”
Asked by Christina from FL on 8/28/2018 2:23:48 PM
    • I'm in northeast FL and bought this to be my go to for this winter. I'd say if you were going to be in anything 20 and below for any length of time you would want to layer really well under it or get something with a more lofty insulation.

  • “Is this coat appropriate for a very cold winter weather, or is it better for 30-50 degree weather?”
Asked by Anna from Colorado on 12/27/2017 2:32:44 PM
    • Sorry there is not a temperature rating due to the number of factors that affect how warm it may keep you.

About Carhartt

If you're looking for durable, comfortable clothing and outerwear, few other brands can compete with Carhartt. Although the venerable Carhartt clothing company has become one of the most respected names in American work wear today, the brand comes from humble roots. Founded in 1889, the family-owned business started out in Detroit, Michigan with just two sewing machines and five employees. During The First World War, the company made uniforms for the US military and also manufactured work clothing for the Navy during WWII. Today, Carhartt clothing is still known for robust fabrics, top-notch construction and a great fit. From rugged Carhartt jackets and coveralls to jeans and shirts, this is one brand you can trust to deliver the real deal -- every time.
