aint like they used to be

I bought a pair of Carhartt work jeans about seven years ago and still wear them -- you wouldn't mistake them for new but they're hardly worn-out either. And they're at least as comfortable as a pair of Levis. So I was delighted to find them for a very good price here.
When they arrived I found something a bit different. The fabric felt paper-thin. And trying them on, the legs were ridiculously baggy. I'm a skinny guy (30" waist) but measuring the thighs of these slacks, they're almost 26 inches each. What kind of a human has a 30-inch waist and 26-inch thighs?! It's as if they cinched the waist down but couldn't be bothered to change the rest.
If you like Carhartts as a fashion statement, you probably won't have any problems. But I was fond of them for their durability and great fit even for my off-the-bell-curve body type. These slacks gave me neither.
One more thing I noticed -- the old ones I have were made in the USA. These are made in Nicaragua.
