The sole is wood and rubber, has good traction, and the stitches give them the look of being made by a traditional shoe maker. The leather is nice quality, and a beautiful color. I'm not sure how the elastic on the buckle side will hold up, but they are really good looking! I sent mine back for a smaller size ( they run really big), so we will see if one size down will do it. Overall, I really like them!
