Best Flops Ever

Seven years ago when I bought my first pair of Chaco Flips, I was very skeptical about $55 flip flops. After 7 years of HARD use I can say they live up to the hype. As far as comfort goes these are excellent. Many folks (including outdoor gear lab) favor OluKai for pure comfort and I wouldn't argue that, but these are still very comfortable. I have an average arch and wide feet but I was very happy with the regular width. I have a high-volume foot and the straps were snug for first few days in these, but they broke in and stretched out a little. I have used these for traveling and found that they were great for walking around all day. I also found that they are supportive and grippy enough for me to do some hiking in them too. In fact all summer long I'd use these to approach rock climbs as well - scrambling through talus fields and up and down steep trails with a heavy pack! And as to durability, I think I started to notice the straps beginning to fray after the first 2 years of use, but it took another 5 before they finally ripped through. I truly punished these things and I sincerely doubt that any other flops could outlast these under the same conditions.
