Not the same quality

This is my sixth or seventh pair of Z1s and the quality is nowhere near the others. I still wear the first pair I got about 15 years ago. I will be lucky if these last a year. The straps are wider and scratchier than the others and brand- new, just-out-of-the-box, the holes where the toe straps enter the footbed are wider than the strap, very visible and look like they will soon tear. The straps are difficult to slide for adjustment, and the footbed visibly deforms when the straps are adjusted - it looks like the material is softer. I noticed a decline in the quality when the company was sold and they moved manufacture from Colorado to China, but these are so bad I'm very tempted to return them. However, I need a new pair with good tread for hiking since all the other pairs are worn down, and the footbed is the only one I can use with my high arches, so I will dubiously keep them.
