This shoe has great arch support but is a harder walking platform due to the vibram. It doesn't have much cushioning. It is like walking on a track made out of rubber tires. Although, better for you joints etc than cement, the give isn't noticeable when walking. The strap takes a little wearing in but if you want a sandal with more support this is a good choice. Chaco's in general run narrow. Even thought I bought this in a wide it still felt like the width was a bit narrow. I didn't see a whole lot of difference from it and the regular hipthong. I would have preferred not having the strap wrap around my big toe.
