I have several pairs of Chaco sandals and these do not disappoint. I have been buying them for almost 20 years before the name was changed to Chaco. I prefer this style rather than the ones with the loop around the big toe but all are comfortable and pretty much true to size. I like the more rugged sole for hiking. I will continue to purchase Chaco sandals for many years to come.

I've owned several pairs of Chacos but this is the first with the narrower straps and it's a nice change. Note that the strap around the heel is wider, which makes the pattern appear a bit different, I do find that I need to order down a size for Chaco sandals to fit just right for me.

This is my second pair of Chacos (accidentally left the first behind on a trek around Europe, I was devastated!). I like them even better than the first. The thin straps and print are very cute. The heel feels less chunky than my last pair (can't remember what those were called) which I liked. I am a size 8 1/2 normally, but an 8 in these fit me perfectly.

I really wanted to like these shoes, they're very cute! But the patterned insole just isn't comfortable on my feet. Additionally, there is too much arch support for my feet. I'm used to Birkenstocks, which have a lot of arch support -- but not as much as this. These are going back.

  • “Everyone "loves" chacos and I have tried hard but they feel clunky and the footbed rough on my feet. Do they require a break-in period or maybe a get used to them period. I don't know whether to return these or not. Have always been a big fan of Keen (and Teva). I don't know what to think. I like to kayak in the sounds of NC.... oyster beds can be an issue...”
Asked by Carolina Kayaker from Eastern North Carolina on 3/23/2011 12:00:00 AM
    • They don't work for some people. Your feet do build calluses that get used to the bottom and that wears with time. Keens may be the way to stay for you.

  • “How do I know if I need a wide size of Chaco (without going in for a fitting). Is there a sizing guideline for wide vs regular widths?”
Asked by Ryan from Cincinnati, OH on 1/11/2011 12:00:00 AM
    • If you wear a wide normally you will want a wide, or if you feel like a lot of shoes feel tight around the toe box you'll want a wide.

About Chaco

There's a good reason why Chaco shoes have maintained a devoted following of adventurous souls (proudly known as Chaconians) for more than 25 years. From the incredible, arch-supporting footbed to the totally unique strap configuration, Chaco sandals fit like a glove and provide amazing support. Originally created by Mark Paigen in 1989, Chaco sandals have since evolved from a single pair of “Ultimate Sport Sandals” into an array of adventure-ready footwear products, including Chaco boots, sneakers and even clogs. Plus, to reduce waste and help loyal Chaconians get more miles out of their favorite kicks, this brand has even introduced the ReChaco Project, which allows customers to send in their worn or damaged sandals to be repaired.
