Great insulated safety boot

Like the other Chippewas I tried on, this is a really well made boot, and I recommend it fully, but go 1/2 size up. Even at that if fit with some, but not all of my mid-weight socks. These have nicely oiled, thick leather, great construction, and are fairly comfortable, though some break-in will be needed. One thing I especially liked about this one is that the thickness, cut, and piecing pattern, seems like it provides a bit extra for cut protection. The soles are not as thick as those styles with the logger heel, but are still thicker than other Vibram soled hiking boots I have had. And those wore very well. The spec said insulated, but not how much. Shoe tag says 400g thinsulate. But it does not seem that thick or bulky - maybe a bit in the shaft, but not in the foot part. Color is as shown. I added basic cordovan colored Kiwi polish, and it took really well, despite how well oiled the leather is already. I found one flaw in these 'irregular' marked boots: some broken stitching at the top of tongue gusset on one side of one boot. That was easily corrected with a needle and thread. FYI - I checked out several other pairs of 'irregular' Chippawa boots and found no other flaws except a small glue mark on one pair. Noting to dissuade from trying them.
